New Zealand - Moments in Time
During the months of March, April and May this year I visited New Zealand. I traveled around both the North and South Islands, often spending the briefest of times in a location, trying to capture something of the essence of its wildlife and landscapes. However, there were also times when I had the opportunity to spend a little longer, for example in Muriwai, on the west coast of Auckland. I was able to watch and record the moments in time of a gannet colony over a couple of weeks. The young were starting to fledge and practice their flying skills. I also spent a week on the small island of Tiritiri Matangi off the east coast of Auckland where I helped in the conservation of the indigenous birdlife. The South Island brought other surprises not least of which were the New Zealand Fur Seals and diminishing protected species of Sea Lions. The images record these precious moments in time.
